8:30 AM Your day begins when you are greeted by our friendly staff who will meet you off the pier by the main exit gate. From there, you’ll be transported on a clean, comfortable, air-conditioned tourism vehicle by one of our certified English-speaking guides.
8:45 AM We’ll take you on a loop through town past points of interest.
9:15 AM The first stop will be in an area where we commonly spot the white-faced Capuchin monkeys! After learning interesting information about them from our certified naturalist tour guides we will board the van and travel on the new highway passing by seasonal plantations as your guide entertains you with rich history and facts about our amazing country!
10:00 AM You will visit an area in the Tarcoles village where the Scarlet macaws are typically found amongst the almond trees before arriving at the Tarcoles River.
10:30 AM Next is the main event – a fun and educational tour of the Tarcoles river and mangrove area. In addition to having American crocodiles up to 20ft/6 meters and up to 2,000 pounds/ 900 kilograms, the river also supports more than 50 species of migratory, native, and coastal birds that can be seen from the comfort of the boat.
12:30 PM Afterwards, enjoy a traditional Costa-Rican-style lunch with cold beverage (meal is included in tour cost.)
1:45 PM Looking to buy an authentic Costa Rican souvenir or coffee to remind you of your amazing trip to Costa Rica? We will visit a shop that has it all at the best prices.
2:30 PM We’ll stop at a scenic viewpoint near the Carrera Forest, about 1,000 feet/ 305 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy a cold beer or soda. Our guides will be on the lookout for toucans, iguanas, and other wildlife. It’s a perfect moment to relax and take in sweeping views of the Puntarenas coastline and Pacific Ocean.
4:00 PM Drop-off is by the cruise ship pier of Puntarenas.
